Sportswear brand Nike recently unveiled their latest womenswear collection titled Nike City Ready which is set to hit stores on September 6th. The collection comprises of nine pieces designed by an all-female team which included Nike Women’s Senior Creative Director Maria Vu.
“Our Challenge was how to take our incredible motion adapt technology and make it beautiful and push it through a transformative lens without compromising the performance,” explains Vu. The campaign features American athlete Sloane Stephens and ballerina/photographer Olivia Burgess who model the pieces which include footwear, bras, pants, tights and crews which are shot by female photographer/athlete Paola Kudacki.
Those who like to maintain cutting-edge style at all times, including whilst sweating out last night’s cocktails on the treadmill, should take note of a brand new collaboration between NikeLab and Sacai.
Founder Chitose Abe has carefully mined the Nike archives, directly pulling designs from running, tennis and American football, before re-imagining them in keeping with Sacai’s feminine and modern image.
The 8-piece women’s collection will include the Tech Fleece crew, Tech Fleece hooded sweatshirt with zip, Windrunner jacket, Sport Skirt, Graphic tee, Tech Fleece dress, Tech Fleece crew top with back zip and Tech Fleece pant, plus a not-to-be-missed reworking of the iconic Air Max silhouette.
Both Nike and Sacai have fabric innovation and functionality at the core of their brands, so the collaboration comes as an extremely exciting development in the world of women’s sportswear – leaving you no excuses to not get to the gym.
NikeLab x Sacai launches in stores in New York, London, Paris, Milan, Hong Kong, and Shanghai as well as online on March 19th.
Rihanna and sports brand Puma will be kicking off a new partnership from January 2015, with the singer becoming both the Creative Director and the Global Ambassador of the Women’s Training category. Her aim is to strengthen women in training sessions and beyond, and inspire a Rihanna-like confidence in their bodies and themselves. Her creative input will directly influence collections as early as next year, adding both new styles and adapting Puma classics.
Rihanna will also play a starring role in PUMA’s brand campaign, Forever Faster and be featured along with many of PUMA’s world-class athletes such as Usain Bolt and Sergio Aguero.
