A cities can be an intimidating crush of a place. Walk the streets of any major metropolis and you’re bound to feel a little lost. While there’s always plenty to see, you need to have the nose of a hunting dog to sniff out where the city’s inhabitants really go to have a good time.
Here’s where LIGANOVA come in. As well as working with clients such as Diesel and Escada, the brandretail company also produces its own Inspiration Guide for Cosmopolitan Travellers series. For their new London guide, the people at LIGANOVA picked team Twin’s brain for our insider tips on where to do everything from buy a stuffed animal to eat the best food in the UK’s capital.
In turn, we picked LIGANOVA’s Head of Corporate Communications Indra Rahn, Head about the series…
How do you decide which cities to cover?
Every year we publish a new Inspiration Guide for a chosen international metropolis. We look for a
metropolis with trend potential and interesting platforms for cooperations that complement LIGANOVA in
general and inspire us. We apply the same concept to all of the Guides, whatever the chosen city may be,
however, the concept is deliberately very different from a traditional City Guide – beginning with an
Inspiration Photo Gallery of inspiring designer stores and art spaces, followed by insider interviews with
chosen local personalities that drop a few personal hints, ending with an especially designed series of
postcard inserts.
Are you from a city?
My home town is Stuttgart, a capital in the South of Germany where LIGANOVA has its headquarters.
Stuttgart isn’t a city‐metropolis but that’s maybe why it is such a good reloading dock, where you have a
clear mind to work on new ideas and concepts. You feel grounded here! However, for just this reason it is
important to regularly leave this reload station behind to discover the world and meet interesting people.
I face the world with an open mind, enjoy to travel and perceive situations with all my senses. I feel
inspired by people, their mentality, culture, art, metropolis as well as by real life.
What do you love about city life?
In just two words – diversity and spontaneity.
What are your best tips for someone visiting Stuttgart?
In case someone happens to come past Stuttgart, he/she should always get in touch with us via email
communications@liganova.com, to hear about current events & happenings .
In general, I would recommend Weinstube Fröhlich for a sociable dinner with friends – you can order the best beef tartar,
Swabian Maultaschen (a kind of meat‐filled ravioli in broth) and Schnitzel (a breaded veal or pork
scallop). Another nice place is the Floating Market for Thai specialties as well as the ice cream parlour
Pinguin for a nice ice cream with the best views over the city. Than there is Bad Berg, an old public
baths with proper mineral water for bathing fun in style.
The best stores for good designerware are AVE and Belle Etage. A cool bar in the middle of the city is Waranga and the best club is KimTimJim.
Can you tell me some of your favourite city experiences?
I love to discover new cities without prior planning or organisation. It is unbelievable the amount of things
you discover and notice! Most of all, I love to spend time with people that live in those cities and have a
few insider tips to share. By the way, that is also the underlying idea of our Guides – they are based on the
principle – “It’s like asking friends where to go“. Another possible variant to discover a city anew is to
simply start walking from an exciting spot and let yourself get carried away!
Where’s on your list to go?
On my list is…Tel Aviv.
Where are the guides available from?
We make them available to order on our websites and distribute them via a selection of exclusive book stores, concept stores & fashion shops in selected Metropolis.
